DR. ANGELIKA HALSTEAD

A little about my personal life, writing and vocational passions

Dr Angelika Halstead, creator of the Writing Your Way Home therapeutic writing course

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, professional, spiritual seeker, and a great many other things.

I live on the beautiful Te Atatū Peninsula in West Auckland, where my daily morning runs along the beautiful coast lift my spirit. I share my home with my husband Phil - who is both my life-partner and collaborator in calling.  We are both excited to have recently welcomed our first grandchild into our ever-expanding family.

As an introvert, writing is my paradise.

From my formative years in Germany until now my journal has always served as a holding place and trusted friend who patiently listens to my ponderings, questions, joys, and battles.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, spiritual seeker, professional and friend. I write to process my thoughts, examine and reflect on what is happening within me, and thus make sense and meaning of my life. Writing for me is also a contemplative, spiritual exercise.

Creating a space to pause, reflect, and open myself to the Divine has enriched my life with novel ideas and contributed to my wellbeing and healing.

As a spiritual director and counsellor, I have always been interested in the question of what effective therapy looks like.

In my work I don’t just want to make people feel better but ignite their souls, awaken them to new possibilities, empower them to connect with their deepest self and create a path for radical transformation.

It was this quest that brought me to my doctoral studies where I developed a unique approach that moves beyond ego, works in partnership with spiritual sources, and promotes new ways of being.‍ ‍

This is the ground out of which the Writing Your Way Home therapeutic writing course has grown.

Helping others to write their way home is where my deepest sense of calling now lies.

Each module of the Writing Your Way Home course supplies a stimulus for change. First, you’ll receive educational input with opportunities for reflection. Then you engage in your personal writing and process of self-inquiry. Here you express your current thoughts and process any unsolved questions which enhances transformation.

Having your writing witnessed and receiving therapeutic support from a skilled and non-judgmental therapist further helps to integrate these new insights into your story and reconstruct your identity and life.

I have witnessed how the Writing Your Way Home course has impacted the participants in so many beautiful ways.

Some shared that experience of oneness with other people, nature, and Spirit increased. Others noted that they became more aware of the Divine life that flows through us all, which helped them to make peace with their past, feel lighter and give their love more generously to others.

It is now time for this course to reach a wider audience and hopefully you.

There would be no greater privilege than supporting you on your journey as you write your way home.

I hope to hear from you, soon.

With love, Angelika
